Yesterday (Thursday) I made a trip out to Berkeley to try to catch a dish of Sketch soft serve before they closed. I had just heard through the grape vine that they were closing their doors for good because of a baby on the way. My friend and I were hoping that they would still be open because the news of them closing seemed fairly new. Plus, there was no sign of a closure date on their website. ALAS! I did not check the blog!!!!! We found them packed up, no sign in the window, and after inquiring at Betty's Oceanview Diner next door, found that they had just closed the previous Sunday! ARG!
I had only been there once before and had an awesome experience with basil soft-serve drizzled with olive oil and salt. I had gone with a friend who likes "normal" flavors and they were able to accommodate him as well with chocolatey-ness. It was delicious!!! Hopefully Sketch will find a new incarnation in the future.
